My First Big Buck!

Hi there, my name is Trisha Glezen. I was out opening day of gun season up in Chenango County this year (2013)and passed up shooting 6 doe and a small 4 point.

I sat all day and was regretting the fact that I hadn't taken any of the deer I had seen all day long. The two guys I went up with had sent me pictures of the big buck they had gotten sitting on the other side of the mountain. I was starting to get discouraged but I refused to give up, by then it was starting to get dark.

That's when I saw him. He was about 60 yards out and I felt confident with my new 30-06. I didn't hesitate. I waited until I knew it would be a good shot and I took it. Burst his heart. It was such a fantastic feeling. He was about 3.5 years old, about 160 pounds, 9 pointer. I am going to get him scored here soon. Being I weigh like a 100 pounds, he was pretty big in my book, haha.

The most exciting part was calling the guys over to check him out. They figured I got a spike or something and couldn't believe I managed to get the biggest buck they've ever gotten on that mountain. The property has been in the families name for years and I was lucky enough to be invited up this year (they probably assumed I would cook and clean for them instead of shooting the monster). I am so excited that my patience of waiting for the big boy to come out. Next goal-a bear!!! :))
